Banjarwangi
Banjarwangi is a batik brand offering hand-drawn, stamped, and combination batik distinguished by bright color palettes and motifs rooted in the identity of Banjar Village, Licin. Its signature Godhong Aren (aren palm leaf) motif reflects the village’s key local commodity and is expressed through vivid, uplifting hues. Banjarwangi selects materials according to technique—cotton prima for stamped batik, cotton primis and semi-silk for hand-drawn and combination pieces—and presents a wide range of products including fabrics, apparel, udeng, scarves, obi, pouches, and batik bags. With a monthly capacity of around 100 stamped and combination pieces and a limited number of hand-drawn works, the brand also accepts custom orders such as institutional logos and material customization, delivering accessible batik without compromising artistic value.
About Banjarwangi
Syamsudin, the founder of Banjarwangi, established the brand about a decade ago out of concern for local youth who had to seek employment outside their village. Drawing on his long-standing experience in business and MSMEs since 2002, he created job opportunities that empower Banjar Village youth through batik craftsmanship. His commitment to tradition is reflected in a consistent adherence to the batik-making process and in educating consumers through batik workshops, helping them understand the time-intensive and multifaceted nature of batik as an art form. His dedication to community empowerment and cultural preservation has earned him national recognition, including being named an inspirational figure in Banyuwangi.
